Every one, at some time, feels threatened by some outside force on a particular aspect of their life. These threats come in all shapes and sizes: burglaries, pandemics, uncontrollable weather, depression, robbery, famine, health… you name it. Each individual experiences these at a different level, and learning to be prepared for them, and even anticipate them, is exactly what the website How To Keep Your Home Safe is all about. Safety is not just a topic, it is knowledge and a culture that needs to be lived out. In order to create this mindset, it needs to be practiced, just like any good musician or artist does on a daily basis to make themselves even better. Throughout my life, I have been taught the safety mindset, and my career in mining has concreted the mindset of staying safe. Not just on the job but at home as well. Living on the farm did not just teach me hard work, it taught me to be prepared for the unexpected rains and broken equipment that keep you from meeting your goals and challenge your livelihood. This built passion in me that I exploit to this day, and I hope to pass on to my family and to the world. Here I share my experiences, and find the answers to the questions that keep rising up as the challenges of our world continue to escalate. While history tends to repeat itself, we can use this to our advantage to prepare us for the next challenge and come out of it stronger than before.

My Story

It really started back in my college days at the University of Nevada, Reno. I had rented the sub-basement apartment of a friends home for the low price of $400 a month. It is nearly impossible to find that kind of price these days! I would park my car in the backyard from time to time, depending on if I had groceries to unload. This time it was pretty dark and late at night. I closed up the gate to the yard and started my walk around to the front of the house to talk to our neighbor. They had a telescope out in the yard to watch the blood moon that night (and it was spectacular). As I was walking out of the alley way, a man from across the way about 100 feet was walking towards me. No idea where he came from or where he was going, but something just told me to put my hand in my pocket. And this wasn’t just like a casual ‘walking down the street’ hand in the pocket. Nope, it was quite obvious that I was reaching for something, with my arm jutting out the side, making me walk slightly tilted and awkwardly. And I just kept my hand there, and this man kept getting closer. Finally, he walks right by me, within a few inches, and immediately turns around and asks me, ‘Do you have a smoke?’ Kindly I acknowledged him with a no, and to my surprise, he STARTS WALKING BACK THE WAY HE CAME. At the moment I didn’t pay much attention to it, but later that night I realized, that was about the closest time I have ever been mugged, or something much worse. If I hadn’t had my hand so obviously reaching for something in my pocket, what would this guy have done? From that day forward, I have made it a priority to always make sure that I am well guarded and that my home stays safe from anything that can cause harm. I have installed security systems in my home as well as my folks, I carry miscellaneous items with me that will protect me and my family in unexpected circumstances, and I have studied various topics in self defense and situational awareness to prevent any unnecessary confrontations. A life worth living is a life worth protecting.

Why I Want to Help You

There have been many close encounters in my life, fortunately none of them having resulted in any serious harm. My biggest worry in my life is the protection of my son and wife. I created this website to help others protect their loved ones, because I know how sacred and precious life is. The securities we have put in place in our home gives us peace of mind, but helping our neighbors be safe too is an extra measure that insures my family is even more secure. Imagine looking in on a school of sharks. In the absence of blood, they swim gracefully around, seemingly minding their own business. But the second you throw a nice steak in the water, mayhem ensues as they fight to eat it. I want to help take that steak out of the water for your home, and your neighborhood. The more we can do to protect ourselves and those around us, the safer we will all be. Don’t invite the sharks to come around. Keep them at a safe distance! The more secure the community is, the further away the sharks will be.
